1991 940 questions and concerns
Hello Everyone,
I am new to this forum, and I've seen some great insight into troubleshooting and common problems concerning Volvos, and I was wondering if you guys would mind helping with mine....
I just purchased a 1991 940 and I'm seeing some things I would like to address...
1) The car sags in the rear, I've read that these cars have Nivomat shocks, and the car will sag when they go bad. Does this car come equipped with the Nivomat system? If so, I have seen a conversion kit but cannot find it again, anyone have any recommendations?
2) the car idles rough, but accelerates and cruises smoothly, the idle does raise up when you turn the compresser on, but it still runs rough
The car has 122k on it, it has the 16 valve engine and a solid rear axle.
Thanks!

Your car MAY have NIVOMAT. Look at the shocks to see if they are regular or if they have lines coming out of them. The kit to replace it isavailable at IPD.
Sounds like a low RPM missfire. You should TUNE it up before you go into further diagnostics. Plugs, wires, rotor, etc. Also check for vacuum leaks. Before anything I'd start out with a compression test to see whether there is something seriously wrong.
