1991 940 Starting Issues
I have a 91 940 GLE that will not start. I bought it with 246000 miles, and it ran, but very badly. I have since replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel sending unit, ignition coil, plugs, wires, and distributor cap. Now the car will crank and fire on a cylinder or two, then stall. Yesterday I pulled the fuel rail and injectors and cleaned, but no luck. I wasn't able to check the fuel pressure for lack of a gauge, but there was definitely plenty of fuel flow at the rail. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
First, make sure that the spark plug wires are connected in the right order. Second, check the alignment of the timing belt. Third, I would do a compresssion check.
The biggest concern I would have on a GLE if you don't know the history of the car is that it has dual overhead cams - which means it is an interference engine. If the previous owner broke the timing belt, it could have damaged valves. The compression check should tell.

I got the car started today after replacing the injector seals. It was losing fuel pressure through the seal on the cylinder 2 injector. It runs now, but is very hesitant to throttle up. Any ideas on how to improve throttle response?
