Passenger strut , rotors, pads , caliper and new soft brake lines completed. I can see why shops charge $$$ to complete this job. It’s not quick. Tomorrow will finish rear shocks, rotors/ pads/calipers and soft brake lines

Ok. Upper strut bar looks good, Fuel filter and rear shocks, new springs, calipers soft brake hoses completed last night. Only thing left to do is AT fluid/filter service , put tires back on and take it to pep boys for an alignment.

Bilsteins vs stock! I will take Bilsteins.

This was not an easy swap.

Upper strut brace looks great.

That is an OEM part.

Wrapped up the mechanicals tonight AT Serviced with filter. When I get to Florida I am heading over to a friend that owns a Jiffylube. He will flush my transmission. Jiffylube has a pressurized bladder system kinda like this bladder used to flush the brakes tonight. They will get every ounce of old ATF fluid out. You can see the residual when the pan was drop and the fluid is still red. The Dex/Merc III from NAPA is OEM spec fluid. Broke the ceramic brakes in. More driving around tomorrow then over to PepBoys at 130pm for alignment. Flying up on Tuesday to pick it up VOLVO then driving to my sisters on Cape Cod for the week. Then drive down to Florida. It’s a 1554 mile drive in a 31yo car and I have NONE/ZERO concerns about the reliability. The car runs as it did off the lot and in 2021/22 handles better than it did in 1991 with the addition of Bilsteins/ Stiffer springs & 205’s. Braking is also superior with the addition of slotted / drilled rotors with ceramic pads. This VOLVO could drive to the tip of South America….

Left Mystic Ct at 5:30pm 12/5/2021 and drove straight to Fort Meyers Florida. I arrived 22:37 minutes later. It took 7 fill ups. Going over night thru and getting passed VA is the key to a fast trip. The fog in South Carolina was epic. The new head light lenses and Sylvanania bulbs really made a great trip This “Brick” travelled great. I set the cruise control on 80mph and it hummed right a long. Stopped and checked under the hood every fill up & checked tire pressures. Never an issue. I am very impressed with the ride. The new Bilsteins and HD rear springs and suspension made this a pleasure to drive. I think I am going to buy the front and rear sway bars from IPD. The cross over strut mount did not fit after it was aligned. I do have the GT mounts which I will put on. All in All very pleased. Heading to get the AC charged tomorrow and an oil change. Heading to my paint guy this morning for an estimate. I ordered gaskets, interior exterior trim parts from Swedishautopartsdotcom. Alex is hilarious. He has everything you need for your VOLVO.

New windshield installed. Several rock chips and 30 yrs of west. This was the original windshield. It’s a base model and did not come with the chrome accents around the front or rear glass. Justin from Safelite did a real nice job. Took extra care/time to make sure it was perfect. Nice to see zero rust in the usual spots. Being a California car I doubted it had rust. But you never know.

Took a break over the holidays on restoration. I bought a couple more cars as well Getting caught up. Need to post receipts of new leather and exterior trim pieces amongst numerous other receipts. Purchased an AC compressor / dryer. The Condenser is fine though. Will have ice cold AC next week. Car is going to paint on 1/17/2021. Will need to remove head lights / tail lights / grill etc before then.

For your new taillights on the '91 240, did you buy an entirely new taillight assembly or did you replace the bulbs only, and if you did replace the bulbs, what's your method for removing the bulb from the socket and what type of bulbs did buy? Thanks!

Replaced the assembly of all exterior head lights, taillights and turn signals. Scroll up and you can see before and after pictures. Big difference.

Well the AC works. This was sitting/idling. I bet on the highway this may read 38/39 degrees. Felt good in South Florida.

Volvo goes into paint on 1/17/2022 To ensure the best possible out come removed all trim, antenna, badging, head lights / taillights, and bottom window trim guards. Zero rust anywhere on this car. Amazing.

Sourced new in the box 30 plus year old Bosch Fog light kit from EBay. Will install soon. But it will be factory looking as on the brochure.

Still in the original unopened bags. Very very cool

Picking up from paint today. Made a huge difference removing all the trim and exterior lights etc. Juan P with 35yrs worth of experience did the body work and sanding AND painting That trunk lid is absolutely beautiful as well as the other sheet metal. Back to my house to start the put back together process. Once done I have leather interior to install. I have idle valve / various vac hoses to replace and installing IPD sway bars 25mm/25mm and GT Bars then replacing all the speakers and adding a touch screen radio Should be finished by Early April. Been a long journey.
