Default 1992 Volvo 240 #10 fuse (power window lifts) keep blowing

Hi everyone! I own a 1992 Volvo 240 and am having a little trouble with my power window lifts fuse and would love anyone’s help or recommendations. I can replace the fuse (#10) over and over but it will continue to blow. No other fuse will blow except this one. I have lubricated the rubber trim for the windows with silicon lubricant but am not the most electrically inclined. I have also cleaned inside the fuse box the metal contacts with a wire brush and replaced all fuses.

You probably have a wire shorted somewhere. A likely culprit is the wires that go to the door where it flexes when the door is opened/closed. When does the fuse blow? When you try to open a particular window? You need to chase down the short.

It will blow at very random times, but particularly after a lot of rolling down/up windows. I have not noticed that trying to open a specific window makes it blow.

Do you try to roll all 4 windows up at the same time? (that will blow the fuse)

I trust you have a 16a (red) fuse in place

yes I do have the correct amperage fuse. I’m not entirely sure if I do, but I know it has blown without me rolling all of them up. I will not roll them up at the same time anymore. thanks for that. Just curious, why would that blow the fuse?

Maybe each motor uses about 4 amps. Never measured.

I had a similar problem but a 1989 and fuse #10. Refer to my post under WRD. The problelm was in the transmission shifter electrical possition sensor and solved by getting the part from FCP. Easy fix to a maddening intermittent problem.
