Default 1993 240

Well, my 240 won't start because we got a lot of rain (according to my mechanic whose place was full of cars because of the dampness nere in Chicago). The battery's fine. My question is, is it time to sell it? Arethey all this unpredictable? Anything I can do to prevent this? Thanks for any advice.

Expensive way of curing dampness. Two products that do work are Holts Wetstart and Holts Dampstart.

The first dries out wet ignition systems and the second puts a plastic seal over the ignition system.

They are readily available in the UK and should be in the US or there may be a similar line by another manufacturer.

Thanks for the reply. I'll put oil in my car but have never done anything more complicated than that. So if I have this product, where exactly do I spray it? I still have the manual from the original owner so maybe there's info in there. I don't know why but engines intimidate me. Thanks, again...

No need to be intimidated with this stuff. If the plug leads and distributor cap are wet spray liberally with Wetstart. It dries them out very quickly and you can get the engine started.

For the Dampstart it is essential that the leads and cap are completely dry before you spray. The best way to do the leads is to pull them one at a time, spray the lead completely and return it to the plug before pulling the next one. That way you do not mix up the leads. Then spray the cap.

One application should last all winter.

Thanks again! I called my local auto parts store and they recommended Prestone Starter Fluid. I bought some but the directions say to put it into "air intake or the carburator". It's a spray but it doesn't sound like the correct item. I haven't driven it in a week. I'm in bad shape....
