Default Two questions: 1)idle control motor 2) ignition coil

Idle control motor: upon testing with my newly arrived Bentley manual (yes!), I find that the throttle body switch on my '90 240 is bad. It never completes the circuit to open the idle control motor. The question is: if I uplug the idle control motor and shoot 12v straight from the battery to it, could I do any harm. I just want to see if the motor is working correctly (it appears that it does) and see how the car idles before I order the switch.

Ignition coil: does Volvo/Bosch use some special spark plug and coil wires? I just replaced the coil, and on both the new one and the old one, the coil wire connection seems tenuous. I plug it in, but the coil seems to spit it back out. It works; it runs; and it's never come loose during use, but it disturbs me [:@]

1. Not sure if it will hurt it or not never tried.
2.The coil connections are wacked on those coils.

I guess the question is: does the idle control motor get a full 12v during operation, or is it stepped down? Bentley says to test the motor with straight 12v, so I think it probably wouldn't hurt.

I could even wire up a temp switch until the new switch gets here
