Default 1993 240 gas type

I have recently replaced my Totaled Crown Vic with another safety 1st car, 93 240. I was wondering what the optimum octane to run the 240 on ? Thanks , Vince..

87 is fine in the B230 red block motors.

Welcome to the form Vince.

That's Graat , 87 will help my wallet . Just picked up this car 2 weeks ago, started getting it up to date service wise . So far a nice old car to drive ! Minor neglect but at 185,000 still a solid no rust vehicle .

I had over 400,000 on my RED BLOCK Volvo and it was running real strong. Those are 1,000,000 mile motors.

You can look at the owners manual on line on Volvo's website.

turbos and probably 16V prefer premium, for all else, regular is AOK.

even on the turbos, you CAN run regular, they'll just degrade their performance accordingly by retarding the ignition if they start to knock.

I would not use anything but 89 octane. It has served me well since my purchase (new vehicle) in 1993.
