Default 1993 240 had run great for two years then....

Greetings.
I own a 1993 Volvo 240. Have had it 2 years. Runs like a top. R1 month ago, I replaced the battery at a local parts seller. The clerk reversed the batter and smoked the alternator. I had the alt. replaced andthen replaced plugs, plug wires, coil wire, distributor rotor and distributor cap. Ran like a top until June 13. Could not get it to fire up. Tried new coil wire. Nada. Had it towed to Volvo Tech. They cleaned throttle Body and replaced fuel pump relay and it ran. Drove it home and to work twice. Yesterday, I could not get it to start. Strong odor of mogas. Let it sit. Got it started this AM and have been driving it around my neighborhood for the last 3 hours. I risked turning it off to pour fuel injector cleaner and unleaded preium in the tank. What is happening? I do not understand
. If anyone has a solution, I will be eternally grateful.
Thank you.

Regards,
Marc

If it is hard to start when warm, I would check the fuel pressure regulator. Pull the vacuum hose off and check if there is gas in the vacuum hose. If so then it needs replacement. If no gas in the vacuum hose does NOT guarantee it is good. To check for sure you need to do a fuel pressure test.

Other item to check is the crank position sensor
