I have a 1993 Volvo 240 that will not shift beyond Reverse. Any ideas? I have tried holding the Shift Override button while shifting gears but that is not helping.Any insight is appreciated.

 

Update: I let it sit for about 30 min. and then tried it again and it shifted into drive (with Shift Override light on). I drove it around the block and into my driveway but now same issue, will only go into reverse and not past. Another thing is when I put it in park I have to jam the gear shift. If anyone has any insight, please post. Thank you.

 

Maybe the linkage or the shifter assembly is loose/jamming.

Looks like the shiftlock setup is messed up.
I piece can be removed but it will totally take out the shiftlock setup.
