Long time since i posted!

2 months or so ago the overdrive in my car activated by itself and now i cant de-activate it, meaning that my car is stuck in 3rd all day long. I have tried pressing the button on the shift **** several times and nothing, it wont disengage at all.

The little orange arrow on the dashboard is lit all the time(even the times when the car decides to let go of 3rd and shift into 4th which is 1 out of 10 times, the 9 other times im stuck in 3rd and the car is consuming more gas than i need to)

How can i fix this? very frustrating

it is probably a bad switch, or a bad relay.

wait for the experts to get on.....

I don't know the differences between the 940 and the 240/740. But i'm pretty sure it uses the same auto AW70/71 - so a solenoid has to be powered to enable 4th gear. My guess is your OD relay is the problem. The solder joints crack and can be re-soldered to fix.

 

i had the same thing it was the relay and have been told it is very common. Replace or soder the connections on the relay. I will work like new again. cheap easy fix.
