Can I get some feedback on the overall quality of this car. Have to replace my 940 Turbo which was just stolen. Thanks.

That sucks. Yeah, they didn't make the 740 in 97, I'm guessing that you mean 87. I have an 89 740 Turbo. I love it. It's the same basic car. The unibody is pretty much the same. They added some features to the 900 series and made a few little detail changes, programmable seat position presets, heated mirrors. The four cyl engine is the same. If it's a 87 turbo, it's the weakest version of that engine as far as components. That's only an issue when trying to modify it for some increased power (I'd say over 200hp), but if you're not planning on doing that, it's not even an issue. The only thing that I would worry about is how the car's been taken care of and if it's been maintained properly like with any used car.

If you have any more info on the car, we can tell you a bit more about it, year, model type, pics, etc.

the 91/92 740's are virtually the same as the 940s, with less 'extras' (my 92 745T has manual seats and no cruise control for instance). The 91+ cars have a different dashboard than the earlier ones.

the 740 *sedans* have a lower trunk lid than the 940's. other than that and minor trim differences and minor internal changes over the years, they are darn close to the same things. My holy grail is a clean 94/95 945T with a good interior, I haven't found it yet, and settled for a 92 745T.

When I read that, I imagined a choir of angels singing. Maybe I wasn't imagining.....

Default Volvo 740

Thanks Titan Joe, pierce, bigdaddyrdpjr for your feedback.
Will double check year; could have sworn it was either 95 or 97; can't read my own handwrting.
Also, still in state of shock at having my 92 940 Turbo stolen. Hoping the LA police will recover; if not I'll probably buy the 740 for $1800
