240 to 740 swap
The head split on my 88 740.I had already retired my 84 240 due to other reasons so I swaped the motors out.only difference was distributer placement (88 was in the head 84 was in the block)Now I can't get it to time. After setting it at tdc several times,I turned the distributer around tooth by tooth and got to a place where it would idle but if you gave it gas it would sputter and not rev.I swapped out the ecu modules to avail.getting frustrated any help or ideas would be great.

Yes but you really didn't answer what I asked.
Because 1. If you swapped the Flywheels then no it will not run right because of the speed sensor.
2.If you removed the Flywheel to replace the Rear Main seal and didn't install it in the exact spot then it will do that to.
You might have to buy the plug to fill the hole for the Dist in the front and use the Cam one like the 740.
