Default 240 Aluminum front and rear bumpers interchangeable?

Shot in the dark here but from diagrams of 240 bumpers the aluminum part looks the same front and back, is this the case? I have two front bumper sticker and no back bumper but a cover for the rear. This would gen great if this was the case.

what year? things changed a few times over the 20-ish years of the 240's production

I'd have to look up the part numbers for the bumpers for a given year to see if they are the same.

Lets see, 1986+, the front bumper rail is 1312932, and the rear bumper rail is 1312933

I got no idea what the differences are.

This does not work on an 1986+ 240, was worth the try

totally the wrong shape, or just holes drilled in the wrong place, or what?

Wrong shape, wayyy to much curvature for the rear bumper cover to work and none of the cover fasteners align. I do think it would bolt onto the rear end bumper shocks if someone had to fix something in a pinch without the cover but it won't look good at all.

well, there's always the rough hewn oak 4x4 bumper. I had one of those bolted to the front of my 1968 Baja Bug, even found a cop who'd sign off on the fix-it ticket for no bumper after I installed it. he kicked it, put some weight on it, and decided it was not exactly factory, but plenty solid.
