I need advice on how to connect the flushing hose to the cooling system given volvo's use of steel heater hoses!!!

There are rubber heater hoses on the engine driver's side ,under the intake manifold, kind of a pain to get at. Volvo recommends draining the coolant by removing the lower radiator hose at the radiator ,and from the large drain/petcock on the passengers side rear of the motor.
