Default 240 gauges - what to check

The '84 240 DL wagon I just bought has Turbo gauges in the dash, but not actually hooked up! When I get a spare minute, I will open up the dash to hook up the clock and voltmeter. Are there any things I should check on a new-to-me car while I have it opened up?
Thanks!

I'd check the general state of the wiring... 1984 is smack in the middle of the 'biodegradable wiring' era, and the electrical harnesses on these cars turn very brittle with age, and insulation failures make all sorts of random problems.

Thanks!
The previous owner claims the wiring harness was replaced. I believed him based on the wiring I could see elsewhere.
