I am working ona 90 240 with b230f engine. The car did not pass e-check, high nox. Converter is a year old,
ox sensor is new, checked for vac leaks, cleanded spark trap,cleaned tbi, repaired holes in tube between tbi and air cleaner,checked fuel pressure, ran cleaner though intake system,changed intake gasket (1 and 4 where sucked in,2 and 3 had burn marks on bottem of gasket),put injecter cleaner in it,changed radiater(it was leaking),and checked fan clutch. The only code was for lean/rich at idle.
I have done this and want to take it back to be checked but the last time I did the manager said I was not
very good because if I would change the EGR valve it would fox the broblem. The car dose not have one.
Is there a form I can get to show him this. He was very rude to the lady I am trying to help. I am not an expert
put I know what an EGR valve is. Her tag has expired and I have hours in this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Mike

Maybe the Mass flow sensor is bad.

 

If you have done a ll that go back to this Guy just before inpection add 4-5 cans of dry gas to at least half a tank of gas ..I've been doing this in my state with my last six volvos ...all have passed 100% ..even with a gutted out Cat

 

replace the flame trap, they are about $2 and is a small round plastic piece that sits between the third and fourths intake runner inside the hose. This is volvos equivalent of an egr. Check when you change the oil. You can buy them cheaply at www.fpcgroton.com The plastic holder sometimes breaks so be careful or buy one of those too. I will try to get you a link.
