Default 240 Odometer? and Temp Gauge?

Hi all. I reset the trip meter on my '93 240 and the odometer and trip meter stopped working. I thought it was the gear breaking so I went to replace it, but the gear wasn't broken at all. I replaced it anyway, but the odometer and trip meter still aren't working. I've checked the gears to make sure they're seated a few more times, and it still won't work.

Any ideas?

Also my temp gauge doesn't work. Replaced the sensor in the block, and still nothing. The gauge looks like it has everything connected inside still. Do these gauges just bite the dust like that? Anything else I should check?

Thanks!

Well, the speedometer works just fine. Inside the instrument cluster there's a gear with a switch attached ( i assume for the "maintenance reminder" function) and that doesn't engage the odometer gears at all due to a broken spring. I guess at this point I suspect the electric motor that drives the gears for the odometer, and i guess the temp gauge is faulty too.

Any other guesses though? If not, I guess I'll buy a temp gauge and send my gauge cluster out for repair...

Can you install a small spring to make it work and see if that will fix the odometer?

No, I can't install a spring. Stuff over on that side is all messed up. I assume its for the maintenance reminder lamp anyway. The button on the bottom left of the instrument cluster (under the fuel gauge) deactivates it.

I fixed the temp gauge. The issue was a fried temperature compensator circuit board.

I suspect the motor that runs the odometer is having issues. I get conductivity out through the circuit board but I wonder if theres a way to get the motor to run while it's uninstalled....

Any reputable places out there that fix odometers?

I don't really know of any off hand.
Might be easier to find a junk yard cluster and drop the entire thing in.
