1987 240 odometer and temp gauge
Hello out there. I just bought a 1987 240 sedan for my son's first car. The car is in pretty good shape mechanically, but there are a few minor isses bugging me. First, the odometer is not working (I read the very extensive post by Eric regarding the the teardown and replace ment of the gear(s)). I followed this to the letter and located the 25 tooth gear which was broken so I ordered a new one from Jeff @ Odometer Gears Ltd and put everything back together without success. The instructions also noted that the drive motor for the odometer may need replacement if the gear does not do the trick. Does naybody have another suggestion, or is the motor the next place to investigate, if so, how do I troubleshoot it and where could I get a replacement?
The second item is the temperature gauge (does not move). When I had the cluster out, I reset the temperature compensation board (I believe the sending unit is OK). Is the board something that is a common failure or should I be looking at something else? Any help would be greatly appreciated, great site!

RE: 1987 240 odometer and temp gauge
Hello Mike,
Sorry about the problem.
Try posting the question in the 240 forum; people there have the best knowledge on the model and I myself am an 850 driver and don't know much about 240. Also, this is a new members' greetings area and very dismal.
I wish you luck,
JPN
