240 Wagon Belly pan?

240 Wagon Belly pan?
Hi! I just got a '93 240 wagon. It leaks oil from the rear main seal and I was wondering if the plastic belly pan (that's missing on my car) goes back far enough to help stop the drips from getting on the driveway? I did find a plugged fire arrestor in the PCV system that helped slow the leaking once I cleaned it, but it still leaks a bit more than I like. Any info on the size of the OEM belly pan would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Scott

Ahh, this is good to know. I am glad that the oil leak slowed down a bunch when i cleaned the PCV system, maybe the drips I get now are from left over oil? I can only hope, I am not looking forward to doing a rear main seal anytime soon. How many hours should i set aside for this adventure if I decide to do it? I am rather handy with my tools and I have a lot of experience mechanically, I just have never worked on a Volvo before.
Another question I have is about the suspension, it is sloppy and bottoms out pretty hard over bumps and makes thunking noises, but there are no obviously sloppy bushings or ball joints. What are the most common bushings to go out, front and back? Do I need special tools to replace the bushings or the struts (besides a spring compressor) ? Thanks! Scott P
I drive a mustang too... the Volvo is the 'family car'

The rear main should take you about 6-7 Hours if it is your first time and you do it on Jackstands.
The front lower rear control are bushings are common.
The rear the torque rod and Main Axle bushings are pretty common to go bad.
You will need special tools for the Main Axle bushings but not the torque rods. The torque rods you will just need a press or maybe a Vise will work.
