Default 240 wagon side molding glue advice

I am from the 850 section but my mom has an 87' 245 with plastic side molding on the body that does not want to stay on. Do you guys have a recommendation for a glue that will hold it in place?

Thanks,
Chet

Are you talking about the 4-5" wide band down low or the narrow belt band stuff? The big stuff down low I use 3M yellow adhesive. Usually it is the ends by the doors that comes loose. Glue it and put a clamp on it overnight.

I used some quiksteel plastic repair that has held on the lower plastic molding on for about 7 months now. I just used the holes meant for the trim tabs and stuck it on! Has worked great. I wouldn't know what to do with the trim molding half way up the door though.

Yes, the 4-5" band is the one that I am talking about. I will try the 3M glue.

Thanks,
Chet

If the ends are curled from being caught on stuff try to straighten them out with a heat gun. Atthe very least, be sure to clamp the ends overnight to let the glue set.

You can use urethane adhesive, windscreen adhesive is fantastic for this, but use a thin strip of a double sided tape to hold it in place. If you have any issues with ends popping up or whatever, just use masking tape wrapped over the trim and around the back of the door till it cures.
Be advised that urethane/windscreen adhesive is SUPER STRONG, so use it only if you don't want to remove the trim ever again, and make sure it goes down in the right place!
Mineral turpentine cleans it up easily too.

Regards, Andrew.
