Default 240 Wagon Tailgate Wiring Harness

My tailgate license plate lights are out. I replaced them, and they still don't work, and the wiring harness (left side) is severed - but not enough to cut the brake light - good! I ordered the wiring harness. How easy is it to replace? Do I have to take off the hinge? Any instructions on-line? Thanks.

both of my wires underneath the hingges were frayed and severed, to remove the headliner you just pry underneath it and there is a plastic edge that will come out from underneath a metal edge taht is part of the roof,

i didnt order harnesses for them, i just cut both wires, pulled them out of the roof are and attached the two ends together with another wire and ran it from teh hatch right into the roof liner bypassing the hinges, i alloted extra wire so that the hatch would open,

kinda hard to explain but it seems this was a major design flaw of volvo !
