Default 245 in snow? opinions please

Greetings!
I'm getting ready to take a trip to Bend, Oregon next month.
There is no doubt that there will be snow and ice on the roads.
I have the option to take my 05' 2 wheeel drive Toyota Tundra, or my 82' 245.
Either way I will have chains with me, and they are both rear wheel drive.
Which should be safer and more under control in the ice and snow?
Thanks!

Personally I would take the 245 but I have never driven a tundra. Put some weight in the back so you have some weight over the driving wheels.

I know pickups are notoriously bad in snow, unladen.

Since your 240 is a wagon, it already has a high proportion of weight over the rear wheels. (As an example, when I use the rear jacking points on my 945, the whole side of the car lifts...that means the center of mass is right there in front of the rear (drive) wheels.)

Of course there is nothing better than fresh snow tires...that's your call...IMO "all season" tires just stink. Don't compromise.

drive the 245, its a funny and easy to controll in the snow
just remember to go easily on the gas pedal, otherwise you will be driving sideways ( and thats a whole lot of fun )
