Opinions Please! betw '87 740 Turbo & '90 240 DL

Help! What a choice!

Today or tomorrow I must choose which one to buy:
An '87 740 Turbo Wagon with 155K as family car same owner since '96. . . .
OR . . .
a 1990 240 DL with 122K and new tranny, original owner, kept in garage rarely driven in six years.
Both from long term owners with all documentation of maintanence by good mechanics, no dents, running and looking nice, and same price range ($1,900 is good for S.F. Bay Area).
My last Volvo was a '72 145 Estate wagon--loved it--but I need in priority: reliable and economical; driving 80 fwy miles per day in Calif. mountains; enjoyable and less maint probs; trustworthy yet fun; roomy and practical. Teacher can't be late!
I can't wait to get my new ride--but gotta choose between two good choices NOW!

Both cars seem solid.

Which ever car you like better in my opinion...

My vote is for the 240. Just an overall preference for this model over the 740, plus it is newer and has the new transmission.

Go with the 240, besides less mileage and a new tranny. The 240 has a more classic look and will be a desirable car for years to come IMO. The 740 was never a particulary attractive car,
