95 940 Turbo. 190,000 miles. Always have run 10w30. Took it to a shop that only works on Volvos just to get an oil change. Did not notice until I left receipt said Castrol Syn Blend 5w30. I Live in Kentucky. Does not get very cold. Might have a couple nights in single digits but very few days less that 25 and more days in the 50's. Spring weather is only 2 months away. Think it's OK to run till the spring? If not, would it be OK to not change filter but just replace oil. Thanks

 

What does the owners manual recommend? I would switch it back to 10w-30.

 

Think I will change it for peace of mind. Would it be all right to not change filter? Know there would be some 5w in there.

 

I don't know how long you run your oil but if it were me I wouldn't bother to change it out as 5W30 and 10W30 oils are very similar. 5W30 and 10W30 have the same viscosity when hot (30) but the 5W30 flows better when cold (5 vs. 10).

No problem leaving the oil in the filter though if you remove the filter carefully you can reinstall it after draining it.

i would leave it in for 3 months then switch back to 10 30 on the next change.
