740 (1991) Transmission Problem
I have a Volvo 1991, model 740, with an automatic transmission. A few months ago, I notice that to shift to second gear, I have to go over 3,000 RPM's, however, if I reach the 3,000 RPM quickly, and then drop the speed and accelerate again, the transmission shift to the second gear. Third and fouth gear seems to work OK.
Could some one help...???

lol....kickdown cable....i love that stupid little thing. You know, I once had my engine stuck at 2,500 RPMs because of that damn thing. All the gunk in the housing froze on my way to Souix City (it was -30 F)...so here i am, on the exit ramp...giving the brake HELL to slow the damn car down. I get to the light, break my seat hinge because i'm using it for leverage, and this guy in a POS Mustang (no offense Tech....it was just old and crapy looking) looks over at me (and i'm sure i'm stark white at this point) and thinks i want to race. So....by no other reason than my car is still at 2,500 RPMs, i peel out and dust the guy. Never been able to replicate that senario, and ever since i've been sucking exauhst fumes...but i'm ok with that.
Um...right....Captain Tangent is finished. The problem was the kick down cable....
