I have a 1989 745 wagon and am trying to install a new cd player that I got from crutchfield. I was sent two wiring harnesses (one that's all audio and one that's all power) I only unplugged one plug when I took my old stereo out. According to the instructions I received from them, there is another factory plug under the steering column. I really dont know what to look for to find this other plug. Any help with this would be appreciated.

 

if you are talking about a nine pin plug, i cant help, there is a bypass connection behind the stereo, kind of tucked away on the left hand side. disconnect that. you willl have to contact crutchfield on different color patterns. but once you get that, match them corresponding to what they tell ya.

I figured it out; I followed the din plug to the amp and just bypassed it. I got everything working except the radio. The power antenna raises and lowers but it doesn’t tune into any stations. Any ideas on what that could be?

 

You've tapped into my trade, and if you can send me some pix, of your center console without the deck, I can give some additional advice.

I have seen you probably got it running, sorry for such a late response, if you have any issues, let me know. If you want to replace the factory speakers, you will possibly need to fabricate a bracket for the front door speakers.

What do you mean the radio doesn't work. No power, or no lites, or no sound?

I assumed you have power to the antenna. If I don't respond today, I work nights, and am about to go to sleep.
