Hello all, i own a 91 740 turbo 4 door. I am having no problems with the engine, but i jsut was wondering about some build up around the top of the engine...its not oil i dont think but its just a black gunk-ish substance. Should i worry? or is it jsut normal dirt and grime? Thanks.

 

Is it slimey and gooey?

It might be sludge and you can flush out the oil system.

If your desire is to clean it, there are all types of brands out there. I run SeaFoam in mine.
However, if you run any of these cleaner in the crankcase too long, and too often, your seals can get a bit dry, and sooner than later case some leaks. Just follow directions, and you should be good.
