i started up my car last night and the headlights came on and so did the rear lights but the panel intsrument lights did not come on, so i could tell how fast i was going or anything......maybe thought it was fuse problem but i cant seem to find the number fuse, even with the owners manuel....any other suggestions?

lol did you try the panel lights dimmer?

 

The dimmer switch might be bad.
Try playing with it and see if they come back on.

 

theres not a dimmer panel on a '88 is there?.........unless i dont know about it, where is it, i was cleaning my dashboard and prolly brush against it, but where is it?

actually there is a dimmer panel but i didnt see it bc the labeling has been rubbed off so all i saw was a **** and i never related it to this....thx
