I've searched most of the normal Volvo suppliers but have yet found a complete front suspension bushing kit. My 89 has the aluminum control arm and I had seen at one time some supplier that had a "kit" with all of the components in the package. I can't seem to find one now so if anyone has seen one in their travels could you please post it. I think 377K on the original bushing requires a replacement.

 

those aluminum control arm early versions of the 740 are getting increasingly rare, and IIRC, they used a different radius arm and radius bushing but the other bushings were the same. I doubt anyone is doing full kits for them anymore, but you should be able to order most of the bushings from the likes of SuperPro, or at least you still could a few years ago. I haven't looked to see what IPD or FCP is carrying anymore.

lets see... 89 740 with alloy control arm...

swaybar link lower bushing: 3530223
swaybar link upper bushing: 1205991 (2 per side)
sswaybar mount bushing: 1229389 (19mm swaybar) or 1273184 (21mm swaybar)

looks like the radius arm is the same.

radius arm pivot bushing to frame: 1329655
radius arm bushing to control arm: 1359599 (2 per side)
control arm bushing to frame: 1273235


I think thats everything in the front, other than the strut mount, ball joint, and steering tierod thingies.


I have no idea if any of these parts are still available from Volvo, but the PN's can be handy for searching for aftermarket replacements...


edit: VERIFY all those PN's, of course. I might have typoed them. there's also something confusing in the old parts catalog ("VADIS") about an alternate radius arm used to fix 'steering vibration', and it has different bushings.
