740 glt questions
got a 91 740, Regina Igntion, I want to adjust the trottle/kickback cable assembly thing, its shifting a bit hard and it shifts from second to 3rd @ 3800 to 4000 rpm...what can I do or is there an adjustment map I must follow.. a pdf file or sumthing? p.s....its not shifting to 4th either....

It's really simple. The kick down cable hooks to the throttle spool along with the accelerator cable. The cable that goes down and under the car is the kick down, the one going through the firewall is the throttle. So...there is a keeper nut on the ds cable...just back off the nut, adjust the cable a bit (I forget which direction but you'll know after a quick test drive) until you get it right. Shifting into overdrive may be a different issue with your OD relay/solenoid/wiring. Get the shift points where you want 'em first before you bother w/ OD.

wanted to ask u how do I check the oil pressure..the oil light has been on since I bought this 740...the sensor is below the exhaust manifold right? and question... ds cable? is that the accelerator cable? did that and I had to drive this thing like it was manual.. reving it high so it could change gears.......I want this to ride smooth not like I'm racing everywhere...dont know where to start... should I adjust the trottle position sensor as well? thanx for ur input...

Yup, the oil sender is down under the exhaust manifold...unscrew the existing one and screw in a mechanics o,p, gauge. Alternately, just buy a permanent gauge and sender (gauges use a diff sender than idiot lights) and install them permanently.
From the throttle spool, there are 3 cables: Cruise control. accelerator pedal. downshift cable. sounds as if you found the down shift cable alright. It's a very sensitive adjustment; a bit too much and you have the symptoms you describe.
