glt stands for grand lux touring? thats what google said but you cant really believe that. whats the difference between a glt and a non glt.

 

Why can't you believe that? It's just a trim level. 1993-1996 GLTs have no turbo, 1997 GLTs have a 13G

 

it just sounded kinda weird to me. i was curious on to what the glt was.

 

Not 100% sure but here is my simplified explanation ( w/o google help)
Lux package include wood trim interior and nice wheels
Touring package include Trip computer and rear wing
Grand Lux Touring include all above + leather + keyless

 

Trim levels for Volvos don't mean anything, there is no set trim pattern because there's so many combinations.

 

If you head over to Wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volvo_850#Trims_.28U.S..29, you'll see the trim relates mostly towards the engine installed in the 850.

It'd be interesting to see a breakdown of the various packages that were offered. On my '97 855 GLT, I don't have the wood trim, Luggage net, spoiler, CD changer, external amp, or the trip computer. I do have TRACS/ABS, heated leather interior, keyless entry, third row seating, integrated childseat and sunroof.
