82 242 Project
hey guys im currently working on a 1982 volvo 242 turbo and im looking for ways to really crank some performance out of her. the suspension work is already done for the most part. IPD sways, lowering springs, bilstiens on all 4 corners, new poly bushings, adjustable panhard rod... u name it. NOW im looking towards the engine. i have already intercooled it (vehicle did not come intercooled, stole one off another 240) cranked the wastegate open so i dont break anything, and ive purchased and installed a manual boost controller.
I'm wondering what types of aftermarket turbos/manifolds are available and whether or not a BOV is accepted with that type of fuel injection.
Any help would be greatly appreciated and i should have some pics up in a few.

You can go to a 91+ manifold off a b230 I. Should be picking up a spare this weekend. As far as turbos. Anything with a T# frame will do. Mine is now a .48/.63 but i'm looking out for a .60 compressor side. A larger exhaust from the turbo back will help it spool better. I'm switching off the Kjet to go to lh 2.2 so I can make more reliable power. Will also be switching to an ezk system to get rid of the vac advance stuff. Basically it all makes for more power and more reliability. Also they can both be chipped. At that point you can run 14PSI and I think the quote is 215 to the rear wheels(not including the exhaust). You could pick up an A cam that would allow a lot more top end in the car. I have one but I also picked up a 530 head recently. I did just rebuild my motor but still the 530 head flows better than the Kjet one. And I'll definitely port and polish it. You can switch to an electrical fan to get rid of the mechanical one. That frees up a couple hp. I've been contemplating building a really nice B@# motor for the extra displacement. Really there is a bunch of stuff you can do but it all requires money. Depends how much of it you want to spend.
You can see my car in the stickies up top.
As for the BOV you can put one on but its going to create a dump of of very rich fuel mixture into the engine when you let off.

ok thank you. yeah im not going to crank the boost up as far as possible. im probably gonna stick with around 10 psi but thats probably going to change after i get a newer turbocharger. i am looking for some cheaper upgrades because i am currently unemployed and having to pay for books and stuff for college. where did u come by that particular turbocharger and i did not know the b230 exhaust manifold could fit on a b21ft? Thanks for the assisstance.

I built that turbo charger I currently have, as I will build the one with the .60/.63 from parts and a T3 frame. Even with a new turbocharger you're going to run into fueling issues around 12psi. The kjet is rather limited in fueling, it will run out. You can do an 11th wire deal and dump a ton of fuel into the engine under full throttle, but its inexact, then you can run 16psi. BUt again your stock turbo will have over ran at that point.
