So...since no mention of fourth I guess you have an automatic? Most likely either the overdrive solenoid or the wiring under the car. Since you seem to think that moving the selector inside the car influences whether it shifts I'd start noticing the following. Does the shift arrow light in the cluster when you toggle the od off? Parked somewhere quiet, key on engine off. If you lean out the driver's door can you hear clicking from under the car when you toggle the od switch? How about inside the car in the vicinity of the glove box?

The OD button don't work anymore. It did at first, but quit. The car would still go to OD. I dont get a light in the dash and it dont downshift out of OD when i'm in it by pressing the button. It is day to day. Some days it goes to OD, some it don't. As far as the clicking I do not have very good hearing so I probably wont hear it but I will try.
