85 245 wont start
i drove the car to work and came out to start it and nothing. i did some checking and there was no spark. did some further checking and found it was the hall sensor. i replaced that and now i have spark and fuel but still no start. not sure where to go next.
the relay clicks over when the key is turned to the on position and again when trying to crank. i can hear the pump and i get fuel going to the rail. what am i looking at if i do/do not have pulse at the injectors?
If it won't fire with ether you can't have good spark.
I pull the vac line from the FPR and shoot a good blast in there, it should run for 4-5 seconds on that.
Unless its completely flooded, in which case pull the plugs and the fuel pump relay, crank it over a few seconds.
Also smell the oil.
I've read of guys cranking their engine at nite with no lights around and seeing all the sparks escaping their worn out ignition systems HT wiring. If its a damp enviroment, spraying the plug wires with WD40 gets many balky engines going.
I find my cheapo timing light is good to checking for spark, but not quality of spark.

hall sensor in distributor has been replaced. dist cap, rotor and wires are also new. i'll try to have someone start it while i spray ether. i have been doing this alone, so i would spray and then go try to start it. thanks for the help everyone.
I worked on mine alone too, thats why I suggest putting the ether in the vac line going to the intake manifold, it works quite well.
If its got compression,
if the plugs aren't drowning in fuel (you didn't say one way or t'other..)
and you can't get it to pop with ether,
logically I'd sayits ignition related.

i pulled the injectors and they are spraying just fine. i've got good spark on all cylinders, fuel from all injectors, i don't understand why it won't start. sometimes it will act as if it is going to fire for a couple of seconds but never does.
