Default '87 240DL mystery hiccups and stalling issues

Hello Volvo people.

My Volvo 244 (auto) recently developed a weird hiccuping issue where it will momentarily stall out while driving, usually for less than a second, and sometimes twice in a row. It only happens under throttle.

If I'm moving slow enough while it happens, the car will sometimes totally stall.

Only happens every 5-10 minutes and usually not right away after starting a drive.

I've done research, and tried a couple things.

MAF has been cleaned. Fuel injectors have been cleaned. Fuel filter has been replaced.

The car runs pretty well otherwise.

Not sure if related, but today I discovered that my trans fluid is low, and pretty brown. I wouldn't imagine this is causing the hiccup issue, but I'm not expert.

Advice on what to try next would be useful. Thanks a bunch 🇸🇪

At this point I would be thinking it's something electrical. Have you checked your battery connections? Checked for any loose wires in the engine compartment? Check all of your grounds to make sure they are getting a good connection too. Do the dash lights flicker or anything else odd when the hiccups happen?
