I have a weird popping noise and I can feel it when taking off from first gear. It also happens at second but less noticeable. Any ideas on what it could be. It happens sometimes when I accelerate in the other gears. Should I just get rid of it and save myself the pain?

 

U-Joints... Rear diff, differential bushings... Could be a lot of things. When is the last time the fluid in the rear end was changed?

 

Honestly probably never as far as I know. It was given to my by my uncle last year for free so I don't think much maintenance has been done in a while. I'm thinking it's the rear differential since whenever I go over a small uneven hump or accelerate the noise starts. If I push the clutch in the noise stops

 

its probably a very good idea to get this car up on a lift and inspect the spring seats and such for corrosion damage. most suspension noises that /I've/ heard have been more like clunks and rumbles, and not popping sounds.

another thing to check is the driveshaft center bearing.

 

Thanks for the insight. I guess to me it sounds like popping but it could also be heard as a small clunk. Taking it in soon as possible. Hopefully it wont wreck my wallet.
