87 volvo 245 overheating problem
I'm trying to figure out my room mates 87 245...It started overheating a couple weeks ago and then he was driving home going like 90+ in OD and blew the head gaskets I believe. White smoke billowed out, ect ect. When we were looking at it the coolant hoses were disconnected. The guy he bought the car from said that the car had blown a head before, so do you think the hoses could of been disconnected this whole time, or is it possible that the pressure from the head blowing knocked the hoses loose? What my first idea was, that because the transmission act so strange, that it was overworking the engine. It is an auto and you don't have to depress the button to shift between gears, and have to such acts as pulling it down to neutral then sliding it into reverse in order to go in reverse. Are there any diagnostic tests i could perform to try and determine why the engine would have blown twice within 10k miles?
