Default '88 240 fuel problem?

my '88 240 suddenly died while running, will not restart when cranked. i replaced fuel pump relay and in-line fuel pump, and the pump will hum only if fuses 4-6 are jumped, and will not start even then.
any ideas?? -thank you

My guess? Either the power stage or the Hall sensor on the dizzy. Pull the plugs after you have jumpered the fuses and tried to start. See if they are wet with unburned fuel. If they are, see my guesses above on ignition. If they are not wet and the fuel pressure relay you swapped in is KNOWN good. Then you need to seriously look at the fuel pumps and filter. If the car won't start or run at all I'd suspect the main inline pump. Generally, the intank pump will not keep a Volvo from running; it will just run like crap. Sometimes, the rubber connector which links the output of the intank pump with the hard pipe mounted to the sender will fail, allowing air to get sucked in when the tank is low on fuel.
