88 240, is there an air filter for air vents?
Hi,
I just moved to San Joaquin valley in California and noticed on drives through the valley my throat gets irritated (had the window open at times too). I was looking at diagrams and trying to remember, but is there any kind of air filter for the intake for the air vents for the car? is there anyway to install one? The air quality in the valley is known to be bad from all the farming and traffic passing through and air just sitting in the valley.
thanks

no, there's no provision for any sort of dust filter on a 240. you could in theory attach some sort of filter material across the entire cowl vent, but that would be pretty ugly. the fan is *directly* behind the center console so getting to the fan housing to mod it with a filter would also be a real pain (basically, the whole dashboard and console would have to come out, and on the 240, the wiring harness is not at all centralized, so this job is really really messy and not something anyone wants to attack.
