'88 244 no start - relay issues
Got a no start on my 1988 244 last week. Engine cranks fine. Bought a new fuel pump relay and replaced the fuses, and it still didn't start. Relay seems to be making an unusual light clicking noise even when the key turns just the battery on. I tried the paper clip trick by jumping fuse #4 to #6, which does turn on the pump, and DID start the car once. But now I can't get it to start when jumping the pump again.
I feel like its just a wiring problem from the pump to tank or relay to pump. We've had a lot of rain and snow this past week. Could moisture have caused a short? Or any other ideas of what to check?
Thanks

Another new issue
After getting the fuel pump changed i got a new issue. As im accelerating the car will lurch. It feels like im pulling my foot off the gas and then putting it to the floor repeatedly while im driving. This happens when its cold when its warm and under light, normal and heavy acceleration. Any help on what to check would be awesome. This same issue is what caused me to sell my 84 244 and i really dont want to sell this one, but the car is becoming unreliable. Oh yeah that car that has the issue is a 82 244 turbo manual. Thanks guys

this is a turbo? check the air hoses from the turbo to the intercooler to the intake manifold.
my 1992 740T was doing something like that under boost, and it turned out that the big silicon rubber hose that comes right off the turbo, the lower side where you couldn't see was squishy from old PCV fumes and bypass oil, so it was blowing out of the clamp under boost. I tried reclampin git, but the rubber was just too mushy, so i ended up replacing that somewhat expensive hose, haven't had a problem since.

Nah its not a turbo its NA.
Seems to intermittently start when I jump the pump, but not easily. A few times the engine turned, and then sputtered out. The relay is making a loud clicking sound when the engine cranks too.
Thanks for the bit about the ground, I'll take a look at it. Anybody know where the harness ground is?
