Default 88 volvo 240 DL battery dyeing

I love my Volvo but I'm struggling at the moment. I've replaced two batteries and one alternator within the last month and the problem still persists. The car runs for a couple hours at once or it can run short errands for a couple weeks, eventually the car begins to struggle at start up - even when warmed up. Each successive start up gets more difficult 'til it just won't start. I had the ground replaced a year ago. Two months ago we had a frigid cold snap, I replaced the battery when it wouldn't start, ran fine for two weeks, dies, I warranty that battery when the mechanics said it was a bad battery, then it runs fine for another two weeks. Then the problem begins again, trouble starting, so now the mechanic says its the alternator, new alternator goes in I drive it 2 hours right out of the shop and that weekend do about three hours worth of driving with a couple stop and starts, it begins to struggle again, now it's dead, it needs a jump start and another trip to the shop, it'll hold a charge fine, but .................... won't consistently start up, any suggestions??? It has 218,000 miles runs great when it runs, I've had it for just over a year and have loved it,...............

You need to get a digital meter and put in on there your self and see if it is charging.
