Speedo stopped working again. Then yesterday the fuel pressure dropped. I was on the highway with half a tank of gas. I had to exit, which took forever in my slow-moving volvo, and fill the gas tank. When I took off the cap there was zero pressure. Topping it off fixed the problem, which I suspect was a loose gas cap.

Started showing the AMM code again. I'm going to run through the steps above sometime this weekend and update on the results.

I appreciate all the help.

this thread is about someone elses 89 240 with a rough-on-low idle problem. I don't even remember what car you have, you really need to start your own thread.

stalling when the gas tank is low suggests there's a problem with the in-tank pump assembly. these cars will run fine with a totally dead in tank pump when the fuel tank is full, but have problems getting enough fuel when its low.

vacuum or pressure in your fuel tank shouldn't affect runability at all, its a closed loop pumped system. the reason for a gas cap that seals is so gasoline won't slosh out, and so smog-causing gas vapors don't escape.
