Default 89 bertone problems

I have an 89 Bertone with the B280F 2.8L V6 enginge.

The problem I have is after it warms up it starts to run like sh...poo.
It seems like it's not getting fuel or the warm engine bay creates vacuum leak.

Has a new fuel filter already. Not sure where to go with this. Early morning drives are fine for about 15-20 minutes. Then the rpm start to flutter. Car won't accelerate from a stop and after you gain some speed the engine rpms go up and down like it has full power then no power and so on.

What the heck is going on?

have you tried replacing relays? i would say take it to your local auto import shop? give me more details. it sounds like a vacuum leak or compression leak? try getting the fuel pump and vacuum checked out and replaced. you best bet sounds like you should buy a new fuel pump not get it rebuilt. lol i just bought a 1988 780 today

I find it hard to believe that the relays would work for a second then not then work again; not that it couldn't happen though.

Basic problem: Car gets to operating temp and it dies like it's starving,
Not an electronic shutdown either.
Let cool off for 10 min or so and it fires up and drives fine again.

I am not completely sure what to say? I would have to see the problem my self... As of right now just google a local import shop that is close to your location and take it to them. How many miles are on it

Well I tried a new coil considering mine was getting very hot. Not the problem.
It now seems to be electrical the more I think about it. It's like the power to the coil is shut off for a sec then comes back on... I'm starting to not like this volvo....

Get that checked out very well may be. Mine stalled out on me last night first time i tried to turn it over wouldn't stay started the second time it worked, and didn't have anymore problems on my way home. I think it at have been because oil pressure on mine. Like I said take it to someone. With mine I am going to nurse it back to perfect health, witch may mean putting a decent amount of money into it. All I have to say don't give up on it yet

I'd take it to someone if I had the money to do that but I don't.

Tried Ign coil. nope
Tried FIR, nope.
Fuel filter, nope

I have another question. When I pull the hose off the front of the Fuel pressure Regulator and turn the key to the "on" position I should have fuel pump out of the hose for a sec right? I have none. Then with the hose off the regulator and I engage the starter I still don't get fuel out of the hose. It seems to pump out of the front of the regulator. I'm at a loss on this...

Could it be the fuel pump it's self or the fuel pressure regulator. I am just throwing things out there I am no expert on these types of things I am just a volvo enthusiast who owns a 2 older Volvos

I'm in Florida.

I have fuel at the fuel rail but not sure of it's pressure.

Ah this problem that you have is going to bug me, bc it some of it does not make any scenes. If I didn't have to money to get it looked at then I would just start replacing pieces one at a time and testing it that way. That seems to be the only way forward. How does your transmission work?

Trans works fine. I'm going for the engine temp sensor next. Seems when it gets to a certain temp it starts its problem. Hope it's cheap. lol

Could that cause it to shut down?

Possibly it would something that's stupid easy to fix. If it was me and that was my problem I would be pissed because I didn't think of that. Do you know if there was a difference in the transmissions from 88 to 89

@ 940Owner, did someone do a custom swap on your 780 to give it a straight 6?

I was going to suggest the temp sensor. Make sure that you replace the one for the fuel injection. The redblock has one for the gauge and one for the computer. Maybe I'd try the mass airflow sensor too. Have you checked out the distributor, cap rotor wires and plugs? A cracked cap could manifest itself when warm. A minor vacuum leak won't regularly show symptoms when using larger amounts of throttle. If it really does run fine for the first 10 minutes then I would not think that it's a fuel delivery issue. If you suspect a cylinder to be failing, unplug an injector while it's running (not a spark plug, that will hurt like 10,00o volts!). If it runs worse you know that it's working. Check them all one at a time. It could be heat causing a break in the windings of an injector, causing it to cease to function. So there are some ideas for ya.
