89 Volvo 740 control arm bushing replacement question
Hello All, today i'm attempting to replace the outer control rod bushings on my 740, the ones that are cone shaped. i was able to loosen the bolt that compresses the 2 cone pieces with no problem. My problem is the bolt that attaches the radius rod to the subframe. The cap of this bolt looks like a large Torx bit, it is male and not female. On the other side is a normal looking nut. My questions are as follows;
1 what is the size of the torx "socket"?
2 is the nut welded to the bracket.
3 can i use a impact socket and drive to remove the nut "which is easier to access than the inbord side of the bracket" and not worry about that weird torx thing?
Thanks Logan

Thanks Pierce! I got it finished last night. I knew i had to use a breaker bar with a cheater to get it loose but i was afraid if the nut was welded on i'd cause some major damage. I found that a 17mm 12 point socket had enough bite on that torx thing to allow the nut to be fully removed from the bolt. it's always the small stuff that seems complicate any proceedure. Thanks again!
