Default '90 740 NT Randomly cuts out.

Randomly is not used loosely here. We'll just be crusining down the road, doesn't matter what speed or time of day or flat road or hills. It doesn't just sputter either, it will just die. The engine itself will die the lights, radio etc will stay on. After about five minutes of sitting on the side of the road she will start right up and drive fine all day. This has never happened twice in a day though...

Car is a 1990 740 Wagon non-turbo with the automatic transmission and 210,000.

Thanks for any help!
Brian

It's most likely either the crank sensor or the fuel pump relay.

It should be on that top of the bell housing in the back on the engine. My car did this when I didn't fully tighten down the grounds on the intake manifold. You could give your grounds a check, but if you haven't messed with any of them, I don't think that's likely.
