Hello,

I've got a 1991 Volvo 240 wagon that I'm going to put an aftermarket deck in. I picked up a harness and dash kit for it. Do these cars have a factory amp, and if so where would I find it?

 

I believe it is located high under the dash on the passenger side. I remember seeing it when I had to do a blower motor replacement in my '90 240.

 

parts diagram for 91+ 240 shows a 20W x 4 amp in/behind the lower center console position, below the ash tray, with a TD-613 stereo in tthe topmost position.

the greenbook wiring diagram concurs, but shows it with and without amp. with the amp, all four speakers are wired to the amplifier, and only a din cable came from the stereo.
