91 240 stuck in park, no brake lights...
My 91 Volvo 240 is stuck in park. I can use the shift release to get it out of park and then the car drives fine, but my break lights do not work. I have checked the fuses and all are fine. I read somewhere that after parking on a hill with the emergency breaks on may cause the problem...this happened after I was parked on a hill, drove away just fine, but then came back to the car which was parked in a parking garage and it was stuck in park. Any ideas? Thanks!
**Update: I sprayed some lithium on the solenoid and it didn't do much. But upon further investigation I noticed that the yellow plastic shift release lever is just popped up. When I push the shift release back in place the car shifts, but still no brake lights. Is anyone out there!!!?

Good to know there are people out there in this forum to help...NOT.
For those of you that have the same problem. I took the break light switch out and then put it back in again and it works. Must have just gotten loose. Soooooo check your break light switch which is by your brake pedal... xo

I think perhaps you should've taken the lithium instead of spraying it!
Seriously though, a bit harsh with the help comment, this is not the biggest Volvo board out there, sometimes you can get a day or two of very little traffic. Also, not too many guys here own the very late model 240's, they tend to own early to mid 80's gear, so unlikely to have shift locks.
Glad it all worked out in the end though.
Regards, Andrew.
