'91 740 front clip on '94 960?
I have a 1994 Volvo 960 with 97K miles that was hit directly in the drivers headlight. The car is still moveable, doesn't leak fluids, and could be fixed with all bolt-on parts but needs a left fender, maybe hood, and multiple plastic parts are broken. Could the front end of the 1991 940 bolt on as a replacement? Could the 940 radiator or at least radiator surround be used? Thanks

isn't a 94 960 the post-facelift version? lotta changes internally not just sheet metal.
even pre-facelift 960s had a lot of changes, alloy hood with a different cowl at the windsheld and gas lifts vs the spring lift scissor arms of the 940, different fender trim lines different grill, headlights, bumpers.
I would imagine a 960 with its 2.9L DOHC 6 cyl, had a larger radiator, but I don't know this as a fact.
oh, and up to 1991, volvo 940 had a smaller radiator than 1992+ 940's, and used a engine driven fan, while 92+ used electric dual speed fans.

yeah the 1991 only 940SE was really a '960 turbo' akin to the 760 turbo.
if the 1994 960 is pre-facelift, you might be able to fit the fenders from the 1991 940, but are not an exact match. the hood is definitely different. if the 940 has the integrated fog lamps, I *think* they'll fit the classic 960.
here's our old 1993 960 wagon,
(as it gets towed off due to a bent rear end)

looking closer at those two fenders, they probably are interchangable, and maybe the lights aand grill are, too, although some early 940s had a different style 'eggcarton' grill.. the piece across the top of the radiator should be pretty similar
the hoods are definitely different, the 960 has a hidden cowl, where the wipers tuck away under the back edge of the hood.

The fenders are different on cars with fog lights (four lights) front, as are the corner lights, and of course the head lights; doesn't matter if 940 or 960. The 960, 760, and '91 940SE have longer hoods.
To cut down on the speculation, the OP should give us more data on the cars he's swapping, makes it easier. A couple of front end shots would be nice.

Thanks for all the responses. There's a lot I'm learning about Volvos. I was especially concerned about the under hood parts and I noted that my car has the "square" turn signals (vertical back edge) versus the rounded design of later 960's. Lots to think about. Could be a nice engine or parts car available soon...
