91' 740 Turbo wagon front bumper hit and need help
Hey guys, i have a 91' 740 turbo wagon, and i hit my front pumper going say 10mph. The front left side is pushed in and rubs the front left tire when i turn left, and the front right side of the bumber is sticking out a little bit, in short, i hit the front left and the left side if bashed in and i cant budge it back into place, Theres a clip that attaches the bumber to the frame and that fell off so any help would be very very helpful, i really need to fix this, thanks guys, means alot.
thanks again

I'm not goping to advise doing this but something similar happened to my 240....i used a rope, square knot, retaining wall and reverse.
Has your SRS light gone off?
Whatever you do to fix your bumper proffessionaly will cost a bunch esspecialy if your SRS light has gone off...they wanted $1600 to replace the sensor on mine....hence, the red-neck fix to the problem, lol. In my case, they wouldn't work on my car unless the SRS system was fixed too...liability i guess? As it turns out, I've got a 50/50 chance of my air bag actually going off in a collision.

no lights have come on, and theres is no frame damage, im worried about the repair price if i have it done proffessionaly, also volvo doesnt even garentee their air bags after like 10 years, so the airbag may even be useless now, not sure what to do.
the bumber seems to be pushed in and stuck under the grill...

yeah thats what i think happened, me and my pop are teken it to the shop today to get some advice, i may have to try to pop it back, then i can fabricate something for the tracks on the side, i jsut need it to come out from under the grill, its in about 2 inches or so, does that sound like a pushed in shock? amd can these shocks break and is that bad?
thanks again

RE: 91' 740 Turbo wagon front bumper hit and need help
i went to the shop today and the people there said that these shocks in the bumper are one time use and to fix my bumper, i would have to buy two new springs, plus there is a little frame damage. so there is no way i can have this professinaly done
Are these springs one time use? i was also told that they are near to impossible to pull out once they have been pushed in...
The man at the shop said that he would take off the plastic bumper cover, and pull the actual metal bumper into place, what do you think
thanks
i could post some pics... i really need some help, i jsut need it to run and look decent for now.

good, thats what im going to have to do.
Do you think this project to take off the plastic bumper and straighten out the metal bumper will be tough, do you know how many bolts i will need to take off to detach the plastic bumper and where they might be, as of now i see the 4 on each shock.
thanks again, really appreciate it

well i was talking to my dad, and he doesnt want to to anything to it jerryrig style becasue if we hit someone we could get in big trouble for not having the car properly fixed, especially the bumper. So we talked to a guy at a local shop and there is a giant volvo scrap yard near by and we can get the entire bumper for like 300. I love this car and it is very very sentimental, i think im going to do it. its a pretty good value considering each shock alone costs like 200 and the plastic is over 500.
