Default Transmission Problem

Is there anyone who can explain this to me. LOL.

3 weeks ago I was on the way to buy another car and my tranny stopped shifting out of 1st gear.

Well after agonizing and doing what I know, I garaged her for 2 weeks.

Today I started her up and took her out for a short spin and LO AND BEHOLD she was shifting perfectly..

ANy Ideas.. ANY AT ALL. I Like my 244. She is a good old girl. and she has super low mileage, but this mystifies me.

But did it continue to shift out of First when it got Hot?

Like after 15 Minutes of driving?

If it is still stuck in 1st after driving then the Transmission is going bad.

You should be able to find a used one pretty cheap. Or get yours rebuilt.

Yes, I just drove it in this nice heat for about 30 minutes and all was shifting fine...

after it failed to shift out of 1st 3 weeks ago, I made the hot assumption, parked her overnite and ran her and no shift. If you revved her high up, she'd shift.

Here we are 3 weeks later and so far she is shifting fine.

Make sure the Kick down cable isn't seized.

Thanks. I finally stumbled up on that right after I Posted this msg. I double checked her. Is it really that bad that the kick down cable will keep it from shifting??? I mean what was crazy was if I was going down hill and revved up as soon as I crossed 40 MPH it would shift into 2nd.

Anyway, so far she is shifting like brand new. I am nervouse that it will glitch again. I assumed it might be a massive vaccum Issue. But I didnt see a bunch of vaccum libes running to the tranny.

Volvos are new to me so I am learning.....

Thanks for your input Tech...
